Born in Cuba in 1951, his parents' blend of Italian-Sicilian and Cuban heritage blended to put his zesty feel for
life into his music; a sweet latin jazz, soothing boleros, and hypnotic bossa nova.
Roberto Olivera Garcia came to the United States in 1980 from Cuba after studying in the 'Superior School for Music'
in Havana. After immigrating to the U.S., he traveled to Venezuela and Brazil, studying and playing the music styles
there. Later, in Las Vegas, he performed at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, with his trio, 'Roberto y Amigos'.
In 1993, he created the group, 'Samba' which performed in resorts and hotels in the Phoenix and Flagstaff, Arizona areas.
Currently he performs with the quintet 'Timba Loca' at the Hotel Weatherford in downtown Flagstaff in the Zane Grey Lounge
every Thursday evening from 7 PM to 10 PM.
